Reservations are required for guaranteed spots on all tours. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tours.
Yes. The only way to guarantee your booking is paying it in advance.
In any other situation we cannot guarantee you a place in our tours.

We only accept bookings paid in advance.
If cash is your only possibility, you can reach us and we will evaluate the situation.
No. We have in our system the data you gave us and the electronic voucher or any kind of document you used to make your booking will be enough for our guides to certify that you are the right person.

Sometimes we need some extra information, the tour gets canceled or we suffer some kind of delay or other problems. When any of this happens we need a way to reach you as soon as possible to let you know.
Transparency and communication are some of our most important values and we want you to know what’s happening at any time so there’s no uncertainty in your mind.
To cancel your booking you have to contact the reseller you used to make it (Viator, Tourdesk, etc.).
If you made the booking straight with us, send us a message.
If we are the ones canceling the tour we will be probably reaching you personally.
In case this doesn’t happen, send us a message and we will explain to you how to proceed.
Any cancellation made within less than 24 hours prior to departure will be fully charged.
If you booked through our website we will contact you straight to give you the refund.
If you booked through a hotel or a reseller (viator, getyourguide, tourdesk, etc.) you have to get in touch with them and they will process your refund request.
Your booking is confirmed after you pay and you get your confirmation email to the email address you used to make the reserve.
You will get all your booking information in the voucher that comes with the confirmation email.
Sometimes it takes it a little while to send the email.
Other times your email service automatically moves our emails to the Spam box, check that out.
If you are sure you have made the reserve and you don’t receive the confirmation email after several minutes contact us.
If the tour departure is delayed by approx. 30 minutes you can cancel the tour for a full refund. We can also find another tour time and/or date if that suits better.
If the tour duration is extended by two hours or more you’re eligible for a 25% refund.
If the tour duration is extended by three hours or more you’re eligible for a 50% refund.

We recommend that you purchase extensive travel insurance when traveling in Iceland.
The snowmobiles of Mountaineers are insured with TM under a compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance according to the Icelandic Motor Insurance Act no. 30/2019. The insurance does not include Driver´s Accident Insurance.
All cars and trucks also hold a compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance.
Mountaineers of Iceland do not hold an insurance policy that covers property damage and no compensation is given in cases of damaged or lost properties.
To our U.S. (American) visitors we can direct you to TravelSafe for insurance. You can contact them and inquire about travel insurance. We cannot recommend any policies as we’re not a licensed insurance seller.
All our tours are guided in English. However, if you prefer, we can set up a different tour in a different language. You can contact us here and we will try our best to make it happen.
It is important to understand that in Iceland you can experience all four seasons in less than one day. It is vital to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing to be able to enjoy the excursions to the fullest.
We have our own weather station in our base camp and we monitor the weather at all times. Even though Iceland is unpredictable.
If you’re driving a rental car then please view the Icelandic Met Office’s website before driving to the meeting point. During the winter months you need to allow for an extra 30 minutes to an hour if road conditions are not good.
Even with the best of the forecasts you should never give anything for granted.
Dress with comfortable clothes and waterproof boots or shoes. Have with you enough warm clothes and always take a raincoat.

A private tour is a personalized experience that you model with us to your taste.
That’s why we need you to contact us and we can customize it to fit your needs.
Your personal items are your responsibility. You are allowed to take your stuff with you on the tours although it is not recommended to take a backpack on the snowmobile because it’s really uncomfortable.
It is your responsibility to take care of your personal items. If something gets lost or forgotten we will try our best to recover it and get it back to you.
Even so, make sure to always keep in sight your things and check you have everything before leaving any of our cars and/or facilities.
It is strictly forbidden to drink alcohol before or during our snowmobile tours.
You are allowed to drink a sensitive amount of alcohol in the stops during our day tours.
In case you are drunk before or during the activity you will not be allowed to participate in it.
It is forbidden to smoke inside of the bus, while driving a snowmobile or inside of any of our facilities.
You are allowed to smoke during the stops and free time but please always remember to take your cigarette ends with you or throw them in an appropriate container.
Nature is not our trash can!
Tips are not mandatory in Iceland and there’s not a tip culture in the country.
However, if you think your guide did a great job, you can always thank them with a tip. They will appreciate it.
